One day, in a newsgroup far, far away, a fearless band of writers conspired to create these diaries. They wrote of clueless newbies and their delusions. They wrote of ordinary writers, struggling at their craft. They wrote of brave editors and readers, assailed by the monstrous and perilous slush.

Why? What dark reasons, what dreams, what great and awesome goal inspired these writers to this task?
